Elementary Math and English (K-8) tutor

For the past 10 years I have been a paraprofessional in an elementary school as a “one on one” aide for students in grades 1-5. My focus has been primarily in special ed with students who are on IEPs or with students who need individualized attention in and out of the classroom. I work with individual students or with small groups of students and help them develop strategies for reinforcing materials or skills taught in the classroom based on an individual students needs interests and abilities. Math and literacy are the main subjects I focus on although I am always ready to assist the student in any other areas they are having trouble with. I also attend regular workshops and trainings which helps in assisting and tutoring students. In addition I also am in charge of an after school enrichment program which focuses on math and literacy . I find my work to be extremely rewarding. By creating a fun learning environment for students I have had great success in helping students master concepts that they were struggling with and to excel in both math and literacy.
