Who is Bob McDermott? Great question, so let me tell you a bit about myself.
I have a unique and diverse background that includes over 20 years of executive management experience in the District Attorney's Office in Brockton, along with 15 years of teaching Middle School English and many related ELA Tutoring assignments.
My experience in the D.A.’s Office led me to make a career change into full-time teaching in 2001. I have MA Teacher Certification (English Major) in the disciplines of Elementary Education (Grades 1-6), Middle School (Grades 5-9), and Business (Grades 5-12). Moreover, the National Safety Council employed me as a part-time teacher. I was a course instructor for young drivers (ages of 16 to 21) who had committed infractions resulting in the loss of their Driver’s License.
Finally, I taught Eighth Grade English Language Arts at St. Agatha School for several years, and at St. Mary of the Hills School for several more years; both are private schools in Milton, MA. During that time, my students won a number of Language Arts awards in the areas of writing and essay contests. Additionally, I have done a great deal of tutoring in all areas of ELA. Overall, my skills in the teaching profession, particularly in writing instruction, have been widely praised according to many of my references and colleagues. My classroom presence has been steadily described as strong, respectful, and engaging.
