Greetings! I am a life sciences teacher with over 10 years of experience teaching standards-based curricula in Massachusetts Public Schools. Over the years, I've developed strong communication skills and have had extensive experience differentiating instruction to make life science accessible to all learners at all levels. I'm a seasoned professional with a focus on student-engagement and positive learning outcomes.
My education includes a BS in Biology from the University of Massachusetts and a M.Ed. in Secondary Education from American International College. I hold licenses in teaching Biology to grades 5-8 as well as grades 9-12. Furthermore, I have spent the last five years mentoring beginning and incoming educators under the MA Induction and Mentoring Program. I am passionate about teaching and using student feedback and performance data to refine and improve my craft!
In addition to my role in the classroom, I have also spent several years tutoring local students in preparation for the Biology MCAS exam, one of Massachusetts's standardized assessment for secondary level science. I have experience preparing engaging, student-centered lessons that will reinforce main themes in Biology. What's more, I teach test-taking strategies and review directional phrases commonly seen on standardized exams.
Please contact me if you are in need of a Biology tutor. I'm excited to meet you and to see how my qualifications may meet your needs!
