I have been a Private Tutor Counselor for the past 30+ years. I began working with the Upward Bounds Program as a Tutor Counselor for High School graduate students. I provided mandatory daily sessions with my 18 year old students to prepare them for college entry in the fall. I acted as a liaison between students, professors and parents. I tutored students in English Composition, Basic Mathematics and Algebra. All 18 of my students successfully completed their summer courses. After graduating with a B.A. in Biology from Indiana University Bloomington I worked in the field of research as a Research Assistant for Baylor College of Medicine, the University of Texas Health Science Center, the University of Houston and Lark Sequencing Technology all in Houston Texas. I also continued to work with private students where I developed an Individualized Diagnostic Testing method specialized to each student. I was then able to pinpoint exactly where the student's difficulty began. I then created an Individualized study plan with the goals of keeping the student at a passing grade level. Simultaneously we worked towards bridging the gab between the two areas. I have tutored students of all ages, backgrounds and skill levels. I haved worked with grades K-12 in Reading, Mathematics, Algebra, Geometry, English Composition, History, Biology, Chemistry and more. I have also successfully tutored college level students in many of the same areas and more. One of my areas of expertise is in decreasing the anxiety and fear my adult students face when it comes to their Math skills. They normally fear they can never overcome their difficulties in understanding Factions, Decimals and Percentages. They develop a sense of pride when they see they can master Mathematics. I believe all students can be successful if given the right support and encouragement. And I always look forward to my next new students in addressing the areas where help is needed.
