I hold a master's of education in school counseling and completed a fellowship program with Indianapolis teaching fellows in 2018, where I served as a 4th-6th grade special education inclusion teacher. Prior to obtaining my graduate degree, I worked as an instructional assistant in several local school districts and provided after school tutoring as well. I have the most experience and success with k-8 reading, writing, and math interventions. Test prep is also available for NWEA and ILEARN. Lastly, I can offer career guidance and exploration for students in 6th grade or above.
About me: I grew up in Fishers, Indiana and loved my education at Hamilton Southeastern Schools. My husband and I moved from Indy to Fishers and currently have a 3-year-old son and a 3-month-old daughter. Tutoring is the perfect fit for keeping and expanding the skills I've gained over the years before getting back into counseling or teaching once my kids are older.

My daughter really enjoys having Shawna as a tutor. She is helping my daughter get ready for back to school after ELearning and a long summer!
We have been very happy with our tutor.
My daughter has gained a lot of confidence since she started working with Shawna. Her math teacher even sent me an email saying she was proud of my daughter’s grades and could tell she was working hard! We are very happy with our results!
We had a great first session with Shawna. My daughter is very shy and was nervous. She feels much better after meeting Shawna, and my daughter is excited for next week.
