Hi, I'm Kody! I have been tutoring English for middle school, high school, and college students professionally since 2016. I specialize in humanities tutoring. (No offense meant to math or science. I love them, but I don't tutor them.)
As I see it, a tutor's job is to help students to engage more deeply with the material, whether that's their own writing or another's. I model active, close reading for students and guide them through the steps of the writing process.
Writing and reading are practices, after all: talent is a factor, but so is diligence. Like all skills, to be mastered they must be practiced.
Students who work with me regularly report increased SAT scores and letter-grade improvement on papers.
