I have degrees in Engineering ending with a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a strong background in Math and Physics. I have worked in the industry for over 30 years. I have also taught several college courses as an adjunct professor. I can provide one-on-one tutoring help with Math, Physics, Chemistry and ACT/SAT Test Prep. I have tutored several high school and middle school students in Math and Science subjects including Chemistry, Physics, Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus and Calculus and for ACT/SAT Test Prep. I tutor at regular, honors as well as AP levels. My approach to tutoring a student is to first understand the areas where the student needs help and focus on improving that. In each class, I usually review the subject matter with the student in the first 5-10 minutes and then teach them skills to apply the material to solve their work sheets/review sheets etc. The best way to learn Math/Science is by doing problems, so we try to solve problems from the book/worksheets provided by the school teacher as well as additional material I have on the topic. For Test Prep, I use multiple sources of materials including books and several prior tests to have the student practice taking the test (or specific sections of the test). The student take the test at home and then we go over the incorrect answers. During tutoring, we go over actual strategies that should be employed and practiced. I would have the student create index cards that summarize how to tackle a particular type of problem and then apply these strategies to the actual tests and do it enough times so that the strategies get ingrained.
