With 201 undergraduate credits and 44 graduate credits, I have an extensive background in biotechnology, ranging from expertise in: nanotechnology, biomaterials, cellular biology, orthopedics and neurobiology. Over my 5.5 years of research experience, I won the provost undergraduate research award, the senior design award, and the senior design presentation award. I was particularly proud of these accomplishments because the senior design award was voted on by the faculty at Hopkins and I won the senior design presentation award with more votes than winners in the previous 5 years. I take pride in my eclectic background, working for five laboratories in four different departments, and as a composer on the piano, I believe my intelligence is well integrated and manifests an exceptional creativity.
Though I had to change majors from Biomedical Engineering and Mathematics at Utah when I transferred to Hopkins for undergrad, I took classes outside my core curriculum in Materials Science, that were also not in my dual emphases of nanotechnology and biomaterials, namely: Biology II Lab, Cellular Biology Lab, nanomedicine, and Colloids and Nanoparticles. This exposed me to a wide range of biological techniques and gave me hands-on experience. Additionally, in my research laboratories I have become proficient electronic engineering design with LabVIEW and have 2.5 years of computational experience, creating electromagnetic, circuit and nerve models in MATLAB for the stimulation of rat sciatic nerves by pulsed magnetic field, as well as machine learning analysis of neurorobotics work.
