My Background:
Whether it was being known as the "math guru” in third grade or my first-time tutoring another classmate in fifth grade, I always knew I had a passion for helping people learn. While earning my B.S. in Biomedical Engineering, I believe Georgia Tech shaped me to become a strong communicator and problem solver, the characteristics of an ideal tutor. In addition, my 5+ years of prior tutoring experience are complemented by my engineering skills. And, with this unique combination, I am able to provide students with a clear understanding of the problem and help them apply the necessary critical thinking skills towards finding a solution.
My Expertise:
I specialize in tutoring high school and college students in math and science, yet I have had experiencing working with K-12 students on a variety of subjects. The following topics are the ones I am most confident with tutoring:
- Math (Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, AP Calculus I/II, AP Statistics, etc.)
- Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, AP Physics I/II/C, etc.)
- English (Writing, Grammar, Editing, Proofreading, etc.)
- Test Preparation (Final Exam, Standardized Testing, SAT, ACT, GRE, etc.)
I also am able to provide college-related advice (e.g. major programs, applications, resumes, essays, scholarships, etc) to prospective students, especially those trying to pursue a career in the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) field.
My Teaching Style:
I believe the best way to tutor is to allow students to bring their own problems to the session, so that we may solve them together. From there, I am able to pinpoint the fundamental issues not easily grasped by students and then provide them with the necessary skills to cover those learning gaps. This way, I am able to raise a student's interest within the subject and not just lecture them with what is in the curriculum.
My Tutoring Schedule:
I am very flexible with students. I am available weekday evenings (after 5:30 PM) and all weekend. I can privately tutor at your home, 1-on-1 online, or nearby at a public library. Please feel free to call, text, or email me whenever you need (even if it is last minute), and I will be sure to respond relatively quickly. All I want to do is provide students with the best and most comfortable learning environment as possible. For cancellations, I would appreciate a notice a few hours ahead of time.
My Mission:
As a lifelong learner, I have engaged in conversations with many of my students and peers about learning. And from what I have experienced, I know education works best with 1-on-1 mentorship, and that's what I excel in. My mission is to offer students the educational assistance they seek and to instill in them the confidence they need to be independent, so they may succeed in their own future endeavors.
