Hello all! My name is Adara and I just wanted to give you a quick rundown of my credentials so that we can make sure we’re perfect fits for each other!
I am a three times published author under the wonderful company Verbaleyze. My books are available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble if you’re interested in checking me out! I was also recognized in high school by Scholastic for excellence in writing for my poem series: Judas. I am the former president of the Creative Writing club in both my high school and College. During my time as president, I made sure students had an appropriate outlet to express themselves while helping them nurture their writing so that they could submit works for publication. (Which a lot of them achieved!)
I’ve also worked with students from foreign countries and helped them with their English as well. Working with these students was the one of the things that made me want to teach English as a second language because the cultural exchange and friendships I acquired were invaluable. I enjoyed doing that a lot so much that I will pick it back up this semester.
However, I think the thing that most qualifies me as a tutor was my job as a peer mentor. I worked with many students on academic probation who felt defeated or just couldn’t find their place as a student. It was tedious work, but I managed to boost morals and get a few of them off Academic Probation. Working with these students made me realize that everyone can indeed achieve success if they’re steered in the correct direction. Disabilities and failure are only crutches and do not define your achievements or predict how successful you will be, that lies on you.
