I possess over ten years of teaching experience, although not all of which is in a traditional classroom setting. My professional history includes positions such as PADI Course Director, General Education Diploma teacher, Technology Student Leader/teaching assistant for Palm Beach State College in Mathematics, High School English and Debate teacher, each with an emphasis on student success and overall achievement toward the students desired goals and needs.
My instructional methods have shown proven results as can be seen by higher testing scores, deeper comprehension, and better writing skills employed by my students. The engagement of an integrated approach in the classroom-both tutoring and group- develops critical thinking and analysis along with greater attention to detail through the integration of project and team learning approaches coupled with traditional teaching styles. This process substantially prepares students for the rigors of advanced work required in college, SAT/ACT’s, and other standardized testing, specifically in the writing and rhetoric of the language arts environment.
My specialty in language arts involves Colonial studies from the seventeenth century through the antebellum civil war era with forays into Poe, Whitman and Dickinson. I have extensive studies in Native American culture and literature as well as slavery and race issues. Imparting this knowledge and these studies to students is critical to the understanding of the global world today and the representation of the America’s as we know them.
I am ready to put my expertise to work for your growth and benefit.
