Hi, I'm Maira (My-ra). I am a University of Maryland graduate. I have a BS & a MA degree in special education. Before I majored in special education, I was a bio major with goals of getting into medical school. That changed when in the summer of 2013, I got a job working as a respite care provider for individuals with special needs. I absolutely loved my job and quickly realized that working with individuals with special needs is my passion, so I changed my major from biology to special education.
Before I began teaching, I tutored students for about 7 years. My first job was tutoring elementary aged students at an after school program. After a year, I got my respite care job and through that I tutored students with special needs. The students were elementary, middle, and high school age. I enjoy teaching/tutoring, because I love seeing my students grow, learn new things, and develop confidence.
Proficient in biology, algebra 1, geometry, elementary math, english/writing, reading, history, social studies, elementary math/reading, special education, chemistry.
