Hi! I am a graduate from Brenau University with a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education. I have been teaching over 8 years with experience in Elementary ages. I really enjoy helping with reading, writing, and math. What I enjoy the most is watching my students grow in their current levels of learning in reading to another level. Watching them grow in comprehension and add on to the story is exciting. When they achieve these goals they begin to love reading books. I expand these concepts into writing. I have my students journal an idea, draw their idea, develop their idea, organize their idea, and then write out their idea. When they see their progress and are celebrated it excites them. When they see their achievement celebrated in writing and put on display it takes away fear and lack of confidence to write.

The key to developing confidence and enjoyment in kids to read and write is to get them excited, celebrate what they already can do, and make a big deal out of it. By doing this it expands their desire to read and to write. When they want to read and write then there is an opening to expand their knowledge base. Once the opening is established, learning happens.

Helping to establish foundation concepts for math is fun! With the use of math manipulative's students have a visual and a hands on experience to learn concepts that may seem difficult for them. We do a lot of hands on practice in different ways to learn concepts of base 10, fractions, adding, place value, subtracting, introduction of two and three digit numbers, and measuring. Once students have these basic foundations down they grow into higher levels of math. Some even go to more advanced levels of math above their grade levels.

For me, teaching students is about the success of their achievements and goals. I enjoy the growth, the happiness and excitement they have for themselves when they are learning and demonstrating accomplishment.
