I am a PhD graduate in Environmental Chemistry from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES). I also have both a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry (Clemson University) and a Master's degree in Geology (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute). As a doctoral student and a post-doc, I have 6 years of teaching experience in chemistry. I also have at least 1 year of private tutoring experience in chemistry. My goal as either a tutor or teacher is to help students gain a clear understanding of scientific principles through everyday examples. For instance, I often explain the concept of solutions (saturated or unsaturated) through the process of making coffee. I firmly believe that such examples allow students to visualize scientific concepts such as saturation, solutes and solvents.
