I am an experienced teacher and tutor, and I have helped many students (ranging from remedial to advanced placement) improve their performance in English, math and social sciences. My diverse background has proven invaluable in accommodating the varying needs and goals of each student.
My love of teaching began during the year I spent working as a substitute teacher while I awaited admission into my graduate program. I really loved the classroom, and though I hadn't planned to "become a teacher", I took the steps and completed testing through which I was granted a temporary Florida Middle Grades Integrated Curriculum teaching certificate. This enabled me to teach all 4 academic subjects (5th-9th grade), and I subsequently spent 2 years teaching English, Algebra, and GED math.
Upon completing graduate school, I accepted positions in compliance and quality assurance for the State of Florida. One of my responsibilities was performing technical editing on all legal/official documents prepared by our staff of 10+ employees. The insight I gained while working with adult learners has truly been a gift...one that has shaped me into a better teacher.
Lastly, I am a highly effective tutor because I love helping people and thrive on challenges. I am flexible with my time and approach, and will go above and beyond to meet the unique needs of each student.
