HI! :) I am a Speech-Language Pathologist and hold a BA degree in English Education. My family jokingly calls me the "Grammar Girl", but I wear that badge with pride! I truly believe that proper communication is one of the most important factors in a student's success!!! I have years of experience in the school system, working with special needs children in grades KG-12. I also home-schooled my own two children who are now college graduates!!!
My personal philosophy of education has definitely changed over the years!!! Traditional education provides a much-needed progressive basis for learning; however, true understanding involves discovering specific learning styles and making concrete connections. My goal is to help each student discover his/her learning style and incorporate compensatory strategies to facilitate that style. Lastly, I always want to provide encouragement and support to BOTH the student and the parents/guardians to create a "can-do" attitude which will assist them in life-long learning! Success is different for all of us; but no matter what it looks like, it can always be achieved!
