I am a high school Mandarin and English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher at North Broward Preparatory School. I also hold a PhD in Chinese literature from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor's degree in Comparative Literature (including English) from Cornell University. I have over a decade of tutoring experience, as well as three years of high school and college-level teaching experience in Mandarin, ESL, and Chinese and English literature. I am qualified to tutor high school and adult learners in a range of topics, including: Mandarin language; English language; English composition and academic writing/essay help, Verbal SAT prep (I scored an 800 on Verbal), and English and Chinese literature. I can also tutor beginning-level French language students. As a high school teacher, I am committed to finding a way to teach material that meets the student's needs while remaining interesting and engaging. I will design our lessons, including everything from materials to structure, based on students' input and goals. As a Level 1 Certified Google Educator, I love to use technology to enhance my students' learning and would be happy to bring tech into our tutoring sessions, if students would like. I look forward to working with you!
