Hello :) my name is Carissa! I hope to meet you and then meet your needs. I am a lifelong learner (and teacher as teaching is a form of learning). I am in love with all educational topics, and hope to help have a deeper understanding and appreciation for whatever subject it may be.

I am an education geek!! My major is Individualized: Education Policy (Why you ask, it's because I am in love with every subject and want to change the way we facilitate learning). I think it is gravely important we always refer back to the purpose of education, (education philosophy <3) it has been said many different ways by many great philosophers such as Aristotle and John Dewey, at the core it is the development of a person for life. I am here to help facilitate this development so that you can pursue the life you desire.

I have a wide array of teaching experience. I volunteered at One World this semester working helping teach english for preschool children. My first year of college I tutored somalian children (5-18) in all subjects. Sophomore year second semester I volunteered at a middle school getting hands of teaching experience. I have taught taekwondo for the past six years. I have coached swim team the last 3 years. I have taught swim lessons for 5 years. I volunteered at my churches Vacation Bible School for 4 year.

I am equipped to tutor up to high school level in all subjects as I excelled in all my subjects graduating sum cum laude and am passionate about educating you to excel

Math is a subject I have always had a deep connection with; numbers speak to me in a way words don´t. I have always seen the world through the lense of math, there are numbers in everything. My teachers and professors have always said I have a knack for math (the most advanced level I can help with is Linear Algebra). My philosophy is that a lot of people get stuck in the equations when it is really about listening to what the numbers tell you. I hope to be your math sensi.

The social sciences are where we try to make sense of this thing called humanity. I can't say I am an expert, I am only human. The social sciences are all about knowing when to zoom in and zoom out your lense to get the best image. I am here to help you bring everything into focus. With my major in Education policy I took social studies pedagogy and am very familiar with strategies to promote learning.

Español la idioma de mi sangre. Spanish is such a beautiful language. Whatever may be the purpose for your learning Spanish I hope to help you understand and appreciate it. I currently am studying abroad in Chile which if no one has told you is the hardest spanish to know that often it's just called Chilean (k bkn no?). I am very familiar with the process of learning spanish as I took classes since I was five until last semester and as a student I observed what worked and what didn't.
