After being exposed to a rigorous academic curriculum I truly understood the importance of understanding every detail in what I am studying. When testing becomes a "game" of how well you understand the material and knowing how to apply it to new and complex ideas, memorizing becomes your worst enemy. I learned that breaking concepts down to its simplest components and mastering them made approaching tougher problems a breeze. Students I have tutored in the past have noticed how important the details and basic structure of courses are, and have improved by giving this area more attention....something we often think is easy and unimportant, but can be a great tool once mastered.
