I have worked as a tutor for over 15 years. Growing up, I volunteered as a tutor for elementary school students in low-income households around the Sacramento area. While a student at Spelman College, I continued to volunteer as a tutor for low-income families throughout the Atlanta area. Now living in Los Angeles, I have worked in various areas of the educational world. In addition to tutoring, I have served as a private consultant to assist charter schools with updating their curriculum as well as an intervention specialist providing students with the greatest learning challenges extra one-on-one assistance. From 2008 – 2018, I owned and operated the Little Smarties Tutoring Service which was created to aid students, both adolescent and adult, in need of extra assistance in their academic endeavors. After selling Little Smarties in 2018, I now tutor a select number of students in and around the Los Angeles area. I cater each session specifically to each individual students’ needs and if supplemental material is needed, I have the resources provide such resources. As an educator I strongly believe everyone has the capacity to learn, sometimes it just requires a different approach.
