About Ana Maria

I have been a lifelong tutor since my young days growing up in Ghana (West Africa) and Brazil, where I taught reading to the Embassy's staff. I have studied internationally, first obtaining a degree in English/Portuguese Translation and Interpreter from the Escola Americana of Rio de Janeiro. Subsequently, I obtained the Diplôme Supérieur de langue et littérature françaises from the University of Nancy in France. Before leaving for a year of French Literature at Sorbonne in Paris, I studied Brazilian Literature and Portuguese Language at PUC (Pontifícia Universidade Católica) in Rio. I am a UCLA graduate and proud to call Los Angeles my home for many decades now. My love of tutoring in several areas and languages, fits perfectly with this great metropolis. In my career, I have worked with both mainstream and special needs students, from adults and teenagers to very young children. I possess an endless amount of patience; I am caring, engaged and supportive of all my tutees, regardless of their learning styles (auditory, visual and/or kinesthetic). Whether I am clarifying and enhancing your understanding of class materials, or helping you acquire French, English or Portuguese language skills, I truly enjoy my work.
