Words are my passion, and I love tutoring because it allows me to spread that passion to others. I have over ten cumulative years of experience teaching and tutoring for private schools, homeschool groups, a community college, private students ages seven through adult, and after-school programs for under-resourced students. I have experience working with students with learning differences (ADHD, dyslexia, ASD, etc.) and am very comfortable tutoring online. My work as an author of four published novels and a book of poems also adds credibility to my classes, showing students the real-world possibilities that lie in learning language and grammar skills. I find that creative writing can be an entry point even for students with no prior interest in writing, eventually giving them a springboard to topics such as academic composition, test preparation, and college-level writing. I love building long-term coaching relationships with my students and helping them achieve their goals, whether that means higher grades, university acceptance, creative writing publication, or simply more confidence in their ability to express themselves in words.
When I'm not writing or teaching writing, I love to read, hike, travel, eat ramen, watch Broadway musicals, and play with my rescue dog, Hamlet!
