I am a student-centered educator, interdisciplinary artist, and administrator with 4+ years teaching and teaching assistant experience in both higher education settings and instructing private lessons. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts with distinction from California College of the Arts from their Individualized Honors program, and am a Masters of Fine Arts candidate in New Genres at Columbia University.
As a private art teacher, I gained professional experience teaching a variety of age groups--from elementary and high school age students to retired adults-- and created customized, studio-based curriculum tailored to each student’s learning styles and creative goals. In my positions as a teaching assistant at Columbia University, I gained an intimate understanding of how graduate and undergraduate art studio classes are structured, conducted, and planned, as well as designed and led a three week painting seminar class with Columbia University graduate and undergraduate students. Both of my teaching assistant positions at California College of the Arts and Columbia University have allowed me to acquire the leadership, pedagogical, and curriculum planning skills necessary for conducting an inclusive classroom environment based in studio production and intellectual growth. My interdisciplinary art educational backgrounds at both California College of the Arts and Columbia University have expanded upon my knowledge base and life-long passion for contemporary art and visual culture.
