I'm an American Sign Language Interpreter who enjoys teaching ASL. I not only use ASL daily, but I was trained on how to interpret ASL/English at Mt. San Antonio College. I'm knowledgeable in the use of ASL grammar and Deaf culture.
I have two degrees, an AS in Medical science/transcription and an ASL interpreting certificate from Mt. San Antonio College, Ca. and a BA in Fine Art from Cal Poly, Ca.
I tutor anyone interested in learning American Sign Language, be it for fun or for college students taking ASL - It could be weak areas needing to improve upon or just need someone to practice their signing skills with.
Lessons are customized to each individual, be it their first time or for those who already have a basic knowledge of ASL. I am patient and prefer students fully understand before moving forward into teaching something new. Age, interests, needs and goals are important to determine where we should start. When tutoring students taking an ASL class, I will help them according to their class and focus on what is difficult. Also, if a student just needs someone to practice signing with to become more proficient, I can help with that and provide feedback.
I plan to provide you with all that I know, to help you succeed in becoming fluent. So let's make this a fun journey! I look forward to meeting you and helping you in your success to fluency!
