About Christian

A professionally trained musician and educator that has worked in the public and private schools for 4 years part-time and 2 years full-time. I have also tutored students in varying subjects since 2011 and continue to push for the success of the student.

Listed Teaching Experience (from most recent onward):

- Private Instruction (June 2011 - January 2017)
Educate students in varying subjects (specializing in Music and English) as I have certification to teach ALL subjects at the high school level (Passed CBEST with near perfect scores). I have had dozens of students throughout the years and continue to push for their success while making sure they have fun during the learning process!

- Bishop Amat Memorial High School (May 2016 - January 2017)
Served as the Band Director and Digital Literacy teacher Full-Time for the Private Catholic Facility. I worked with hundreds of students to perfect their ability to play their instruments and perform for countless Football Games, Pep Rallies, Field Show Tournaments, and Concerts in front of the public. I also instructed students on a daily basis in all subjects as we were required to be substitute teachers every day for teachers who were sick. I made sure I did everything I could to ensure that the student population was happy and the students were as successful as possible! Nothing made me happier than seeing them have fun while having high standards.

- Ontario High School (May 2016 - August 2016)
I worked as a Low Brass Clinician for the Ontario High School Marching Band during this period. I was hired to specifically focus on the low brass section and to ensure the students their success by introducing advanced level fundamentals and techniques while making the process fun and enjoyable.

- Alvarado Intermediate School (June 2011 - February 2016)
I started out at Alvarado as a Professional / Expert Brass and worked my way up to Assistant Instrumental Music Director in June 2014. After serving one year as the Assistant Instrumental Music Director, I was then hired as the Interim Music Director from June 2015 until February 2016. As the Instrumental Music Director, I managed a staff of many individuals and ran a band program of hundreds of Parents and Students. I pushed the boundaries of music education with the students and ensured their success, regardless of their experience level. I was also in charge of the Show Choir, Music Appreciation, Drumline, Colorguard, and Orchestra classes. The high level marching program thrived and the students had a lot of fun as they pushed to be successful students and people.

- John A. Rowland High School (June 2011 - June 2015)
I served all my time at Rowland as a Part-Time Visual Instructor where I would teach the students proper dance and marching technique to be successful as a field show band. I would focus on teaching students individually in order to make sure that every student understood the content necessary and pushed them to reach newer heights at their own pace.

- Oaks Middle School (June 2014 - June 2015)
I served as the Low Brass Instructor for the well established band program at Oaks Middle School. I would teach the students individually and in a small group setting, introducing fundamentals and concepts that ultimately, led to their success.

Formal Education:

- John A Rowland High School (2007 - 2011)
High School Diploma

- California State University - Fullerton (2011 - 2015)
Bachelor of the Arts, Music Education

- National University (2015 - 2016)
Earned Credits for Single-Subject Teaching Credential

- Loyola Marymount University (2016 - 2017)
Enrolled and took classes towards my Single-Subject Teaching Credential and my Master's in Education - Arts.

Teaching Philosophy:

- I want to make sure that my students are as happy as possible while learning as much as possible. As I have experienced in the education system, too much is focused on the students just producing great test scores and nothing else. My main focus is to ensure the student enjoys the process of learning as all people have the innate need to learn and enjoy the process. I have varying teaching techniques from the experience and formal training I received throughout my years to ensure that students will always look forward to learning on a daily basis!

I cannot wait to work with any student who is willing to work with me! I am looking forward to working with all of you!
