My name is Mark Scheu and I have a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and a Bachelors Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. I am certified to teach students in multiple subjects up through college. I am also certified to teach mathematics. I have been teaching math and science at a public school for the last six years. Previous to teaching I was a private tutor for nine years, running my own tutoring business. I have experience tutoring students from first grade up through college level work. I have a specific emphasis on math, but have taught all subjects. I have worked with private school, homeschool, and public school students.
My goal as a tutor is to not just have the student barely get by for an exam or a homework assignment, but to make them a deeper thinker and have them realize that they have potential to be great in any subject they put their minds to. There are so many different types of learners that it is essential that I tailor each session to highlight a student's strengths, while also correcting any weaknesses. Many times I find students have trouble because of the single way a teacher shows them how to do a task, when there are many ways to look at the same material.
There is a major difference between getting a tutor that has limited experience actually sitting down with a student one on one and getting someone that has years of experience and can immediately get to the root of a problem.
Whether you are struggling with a certain topic or you have a deep understanding and want to push yourself further I am here to get you to where you want to be.
I am available to travel to your home, work online (via Skype), or we can meet in a public setting. I look forward to hearing from you and helping in any way that I can.
