I am a Fulbright Scholar, a University of Michigan graduate (BA 2012), and an enthusiastic educator who particularly enjoys working with middle and high school students. My main areas of academic interest are: English/language arts (critical reading and writing), Math (algebra I & II, geometry, trigonometry), French and Italian.
In more than four years of tutoring, I have worked with students from diverse backgrounds and varying aptitude levels. I have prepared high school students for the SAT and for the AP English Language & Composition exam, and coached them on college admissions essays with a high degree of success. I have also worked with students facing attention deficit and executive functioning disorders, and non-native speakers of English. Each job poses unique challenges, which I embrace with confidence and positivity.
Employing a highly-individualized approach, I observe each student’s needs and use whatever tools are required for that particular learner. I see myself as an equal to the student, if one who fills a different role. My job is to respectfully help them grasp the material; to see the material clearly, on their own terms.
