Hi! My name is Amanda. I graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 2018 with a B.A. in Biology and a minor in Global Environmental Change and Sustainability. I am passionate about helping to reform healthcare in my community with the ultimate goal of increasing its accessibility to underserved populations; I will be beginning my journey towards becoming a physician this Fall at the University of California, Riverside, School of Medicine.
Throughout my academic years, I have tutored in many informal and formal settings. I have also guided several students through the college and medical school application processes. My coursework in college most notably included biochemistry, cell biology, and developmental biology; I extensively studied these subjects during my undergraduate years and while studying for the MCAT. In my volunteer experiences, I have interacted with individuals from all walks of life and understand the importance of teaching and communicating with others in the ways they feel most comfortable.
In my free time, I enjoy reading, going to concerts, going to the beach, traveling to new places, aquascaping and baking. If you’re looking for a tutor who is patient, supportive and who genuinely wants to see you succeed, feel free to reach out! I will always be upfront with you and let you know if I do not feel comfortable with the topic you hope to improve in, but will also always try my best. With the current uncertain and rapidly-changing COVID-19 situation, I hope to dedicate some of my time to helping others achieve their academic and intellectual goals and can't wait to chat with you!
