I am a TEFL certified teacher that teaches children to adult English as a second language. I received my TEFL certification March 2019. I have approximately 15 year of experience working with children ages 2-13 years old. My previous work experience with children was working directly one-on-one with children with developmental delays and focusing on replacing problem behavior (i.e., tantrum, not complying with adult instructions, physical aggression towards others, etc.) with more appropriate behaviors (i.e., utilizing verbal language or sign language to request the child's wants or needs, following through with instructions/demands from adults, etc.). I was very skilled at finding out what each child was motivated by and utilized that to build their confidence in completing difficult tasks. I am very skilled at utilizing many different positive reward systems to make learning fun and enjoyable for children. I have moved my focus of career to teaching English as a second language because I believe everyone who desires to speak English deserves the opportunity to learn and become more successful at communicating with others.
