I am a graduate of both the University of California, Santa Barbara and the University of California, Los Angeles, School of Law, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and my Juris Doctor respectively. After a long legal career, I decided to pursue my first true love of teaching and learning. Presently, I am an elementary school substitute teacher in San Diego’s north county coastal areas and an English tutor for students of all ages. I have tutored both students who are preparing to take the SAT/ACT and students for whom English is a second language. I have an accessible and engaging teaching style that utilizes each student’s individual learning style and unique capabilities.
I believe every individual can be successful in educational pursuits given the appropriate direction and tools. As a tutor, I provide that direction and those tools in an empathetic, warm and interesting manner.
I have successfully tutored numerous students preparing to take the SAT and ACT. My expertise is in the reading, writing and essay portions of those exams, in addition to providing help with test anxiety. I have also tutored elementary and middle school students in writing, reading and vocabulary building. I customize all lesson plans to simultaneously stimulate the student and address his or her individual challenges.
I would love to work with you to satisfy your tutoring needs. I truly believe my love of learning and ability to relate to students as unique individuals, make me an excellent tutor. Together we can conquer the challenges you face! Please feel free to contact me with any questions and to get started.
