I have over four years of experience tutoring elementary school, high school, and university students. In the past, I've worked with students on everything from basic reading and math skills to college-level AP courses (Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, English, US History, and US Government) and university classes (Statistics). I've also helped with preparation for AP tests and college applications.
Currently, I'm a Ph.D. student in UC Irvine's Cell and Molecular Biology program. I recently graduated cum laude from UCLA with a BS in MCDB (Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology) and a minor in Biomedical Research. been on the Dean's List every quarter so far, and have four years of experience working in a research lab.
My background in working with a wide variety of students gives me a strong foundation in helping a student to develop their own individual learning style. My goal is to help students not with memorization but with developing the analytical and cognitive skills needed to find the answers on their own.
Additionally, I have four years of experience with a competitive mock trial team (a version of debate). Through that program, I was able to help others develop their public speaking and analytical skills.
Personally, I spend a lot of my free time reading, knitting, and running, I was part of my high school's cross country and long-distance track teams for four years (captain for three), and understand the difficulty of balance school and extracurriculars.
