I recently graduated with a Bachelor's degree in History & Political Thought (summa cum laude) from Concordia University, Irvine. I have over two years of experience tutoring philosophy, and over eight years of experience working with and educating students ages 7-17 as a volunteer. While at Concordia, I minored in philosophy and classical languages in addition to majoring in history & political thought. I have a deep love for learning, and it is my goal to share this passion with you and equip you to excel in your scholarly pursuits!
As a tutor I specialize in reading comprehension, essay writing, and test preparation. I have expertise in a wide variety of subject areas within the humanities: history, philosophy, government/political theory, English, and more. My greatest strength is taking a complicated or obscure idea and breaking it down in easy-to-understand terms. My tutoring focuses on interactive conversation, in which I help students understand new concepts by asking you questions and building on what you can relate to or already know. I also provide in-depth help with essays—including but not limited to essays for classes, the SAT, and college applications. Essay tutoring can include proofreading, workshopping on key writing skills, structural editing, and tutorials on how to construct and analyze arguments within an essay. Finally, I can help you prepare for exams, whether you are studying for a class or have to take a standardized test!
