I see myself as a guide and a mentor, which is what makes tutoring truly rewarding - the sense of making a difference in a student's life, the opportunity to witness the moment when they say, "Wow. I've got this!" I love teaching, I love learning, and I love having the opportunity every day to pass on this love to my students!
While studying music and education at NYU, I discovered that I had a natural knack for tutoring, which quickly became my vocation. Since then, for more than fifteen years, as a private tutor in New York City, the UK, and currently Los Angeles, I've helped my students find their learning style, their self-confidence and their own path to success.
My specialties are all levels of mathematics, science, music and test prep (SAT/ISEE/ACT/SSAT/GRE/GED/etc). I also have quite a bit of experience helping students with executive functioning skills (study skills, organizational skills, time management). I love tutoring in English and history as well!
I always endeavor to help my students stay engaged with the material. My first priority is to ensure understanding, mastery and confidence in the fundamentals. Then, we build upon this foundation by making sure that they are challenged just enough to be excited about the material, but never overwhelmed or frustrated. I've found that respect, empathy and a healthy sense of humor go a long way in achieving these goals.
I am always happy to chat with you about how I can help your student. Thank you for taking the time to find out a bit more about me. I look forward to meeting with you!
