Hello! Thank you for checking out my profile! I provide tutoring services for American Sign Language (ASL), health and fitness, art, and life coaching. (Please scroll down for more information regarding ASL tutoring. Please contact me directly for more information regarding my other tutoring topics.) I have always enjoyed teaching and helping people. I have a strong educational history with a bachelor's in Psychology and Master's in Social Work. I am a very disciplined and dedicated learner which led me to graduate with a 4.0 GPA. I also recently became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Arizona. My goals involve uniting diverse individuals by establishing a social impact company that will provide compassionate action and community outreach. The funds that I receive from tutoring will help me work towards that goal and make a larger impact in the community. I am a very caring, fun, easygoing, accepting, helpful, smart and dynamic person.
ASL Tutoring:
What to expect:
I offer beginner to intermediate American Sign Language (ASL) tutoring. I am fluent in ASL and I'm very passionate about the language and the Deaf culture. I know that I will be able to help you learn ASL by working with you at your individual level and pace. I have a very easygoing teaching style and I'm always open to feedback. If you choose me as your tutor, you can expect lessons to be easy to understand, fun, empowering and inspiring. We will discuss why you want to learn/practice the language in order to develop a lesson plan that will meet your goals and needs.
My experience:
I took ASL 1-3 in college and was very involved in ASL club, attended many Deaf events, and made many Deaf friends. I loved ASL so much that in 2018 I decided to teach an ASL class on the side in the community. I was surprised by the success of the class which went on for almost 1 year long! The class was so successful that I decided to do another round in 2019. The second round of class was also very successful, but cut a few months short due to COVID. One thing that made my class special is that I encouraged attendance to Deaf events in the community and brought in people from the Deaf community as guest speakers. I definitely hope to get this group up and running again once COVID concerns die down and people can comfortably gather in person again. For this reason, please let me know if you would be interested in participating in an in-person ASL class in the future. For now, I will be offering individual tutoring sessions over video chat and in-person. (P.S. I am fully vaccinated.)
Please feel free to contact me directly with any questions. I'd be happy to help!
