Good morning.
My name is Kent Gompert. I am a retired Social Studies and History instructor, having served in the teaching profession for over thirty years. My expertise is in History and Social Studies, though as a tutor and interventionist, I specialize in Math, Language Arts, Spanish and History.
Concerning my educaion background, I was an Academic All American at USC in Los Angeles while pursuing a doctoral program, and was selected four times by Who's Who Among Teachers from 1994 to 2002. I also hold MA Degrees in History and Latin American Studies (Spanish) from the University of New Mexico and University of Arizona, respectively.
I utilize a format called A Software Textbook Approach to Teaching, which combines software, video and digital media, with learning games and strategies to foster critical thinking and an interest in learning. I believe that the key to academic success should focus on the student's taking ownership of their education, and teaching the proper mechanics and instruction guidelines to achieve that goal.
If considered, I believe that I would be able to really help a student in the above mentioned content areas.
Best regards,
