I am a PhD student in Mathematics & Biology Education. I have an MS in Neurobiology & a BS in Psychology w/ a minor in Child Development. My true passion in life is education, not only teaching but developing ways to teach & train others to teach better. I have been a tutor for 18yrs. I started out when I was 15 tutoring a group of inner-city kids at a mission center. I fell in love and have been working in some aspect of education since. Personally, I am a 3rd Grade- college core-studies specialist. My areas of expertise are reading comprehension, writing, & language arts, foundational mathematics up through Algebra 2 including geometry, general science, biology, chemistry, & social studies/humanities. I am also proficient at teaching self-management skills, study skills, & test prep. Additionally, I specialize in students who have all kinds of learning abilities, including those with ADD, ADHD, autism, & who have traumatic brain injuries. Working with these amazing students has made my teaching style very versatile - I once taught biology by using a pizza and reading comprehension out of My Little Pony figurines! Basically, I adapt to each student's learning style so they can reach their maximum potential!
