During the 1880s fires ravaged through the Fresno area due to the construction of the buildings and the dry air. During the nineteenth century, most buildings were built with mainly wood. On top of that, the firefighting services were not quite up to par. One of the worst fires that ripped through this city was one that destroyed an entire block of the city which happened in 1882. The following year, another fire destroyed a major area of the town.
Could you imagine having to deal with two major fires back to back due to poor construction practices? Needless to say, after this happened things changed drastically around the country. Architects stopped designing houses that were almost entirely made out of wood and fire departments stepped up their game. You might be someone who is studying to be an architect right now so you are familiar with what it takes to build a solid structure.
