English (K-8) and High School Level English tutor

About Joanne

I am a graduate from West Chester University in Pennsylvania with a BA in Liberal Arts and a Minor in Art History. I graduated in 2002, while working full-time and attending night school for 9 years. I had a wonderful experience traveling with the Art History Department to Egypt and Greece for credits!

In 2005, I was taking Spanish classes at inlingua Language School located in Wilmington, DE. Not long after, inlingua asked me to be an English teacher/tutor for them. I worked with inlingua Language School for approximately one (1) year. Global Arena Language School has now taken over inlingua Language School and their home office is in Philadelphia, PA.
I took a TESOL Workshop at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School in 2007 and received my TESOL/ESL Certificate. I began teaching and tutoring on my own. I taught a variety of students from Sweden, China, Russia and Mexico as well as, students in my area that needed help with their English courses in high school. I truly love to teach/tutor and watch the progression of my students.

In Mexico, where I lived for 7 years, I taught English to employees of a jewelry store in the Galerias Vallarta Shopping Mall in Puerto Vallarta, MX. The employees’ program was customized to meet their needs in helping them communicate with their English-speaking customers.

Travel: I have traveled to many states within the USA and participated in a Sports Camp for the children of the Pine Ridge Native American Lakota Sioux Indian Reservation in South Dakota. (Also, through West Chester University).

Travel Outside of the USA: Quebec City, Canada, Italy, France, Spain, England, Scotland, Turkey, Greece, Egypt and Mexico. From 2007-2014, I lived in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Other Skills: I use Skype frequently and I am familiar with PowerPoint, Excel and Word. I have excellent communication skills. I am studying Copyediting online at this time.
