Qualifications & Experience

Deeply passionate about areas of expertise - English Writing and Literature, ESL. I use an experiential, inquiry-based, interactive, student-centered methodology as opposed to a lecture-based, teacher-centered one. And for English as a Second Language (ESL), I use the Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) approach, which is also highly interactive, along with the implementation of authentic language, mirroring real-life situations so that students can feel, understand and be able to speak when these situations arise in their daily lives (task-based).

When teaching English literature, my fundamental objective is in guiding students to see that the lives of the characters which they are reading about and the worlds which they inhabit are relevant to their own. And when teaching writing, the goal is for them to master the various forms of rhetoric, while adhering to the conventional rules of English such as punctuation, spelling, capitalization, grammar and learning to use the appropriate tone for the intended audience addressed in their pieces.
