For the past few school years, Lawndale Elementary School District has been a consistent partner of HeyTutor, using them to deliver high-impact after-school tutoring with a research-based curriculum and trained tutors. In Fall 2025, the program served students across grades K-12, including English Learners, with a focus on accelerating academic growth in Math and English Language Arts (ELA). By the end of the Fall term, the district saw measurable, significant gains across both subjects, particularly among students who began the year performing below grade level.
Math Outcomes
Math tutoring reached 141 students, making it the district’s largest after-school intervention area.
Key results include:
- Students two grade levels below dropped from 74 to 38, a 49% reduction.
- Students approaching grade level increased from 14 to 37, a 164% increase.
- Students at grade level more than doubled from 2 to 5.
- Students at or above grade level increased from 11% to 30%, a 163% gain.
These outcomes demonstrate strong math acceleration, especially among students transitioning out of severe learning gaps.

ELA Outcomes
A total of 32 students participated in ELA tutoring.
Key results include:
- Students two grade levels below decreased from 18 to 17.
- Students approaching grade level increased from 2 to 7 students, a 250% gain.
- Students at or above grade level grew from 6% to 25%, a 300% increase.
- 31% of students moved up at least one grade band.
These shifts indicate that HeyTutor’s ELA curriculum effectively accelerated literacy development, particularly for students closest to grade-level proficiency, while also supporting growth among those further behind.
