Yes. Most of our district partners continue tutoring programs throughout the summer. Many of our districts leverage existing tutors to work alongside teachers delivering summer academic content or by continuing standards aligned lessons.

Assessments we use: Formative assessments are embedded into every lesson as the 5-question Master portion. Diagnostic assessments are taken at the beginning and end of the program, as well as mid-year for year-long programs.

HeyTutor assessments are multiple choice with four answer choices, as students see in state assessments, as well as some true/false questions.

HeyTutor’s assessments encompass a variety of content types to comprehensively evaluate students’ skills. These include Vocabulary Questions, where students define or use words in context from a passage. Sequencing and Ordering tasks assess students’ ability to arrange events, sentences, or paragraphs logically. Identifying the Main Idea and Supporting Details in passages is a common focus in reading assessments. Math assessments require interpreting Graphical Representations, tackling Math Operations, and solving real-world Word Problems, covering a range of mathematical concepts from basic operations to geometry and algebra.

Rather than adapting the curriculum based on individual student assessment results, we have taken a different approach. High-impact tutoring requires consistent lessons delivered over a period of time to deliver results. For example, 3-5 sessions per week. On-demand services are more akin to homework help and are not effective in impacting academic growth towards grade-level standards.

Through block scheduling each of our tutors work between 20-40 hours per week, in order to maintain high tutor retention rates as highly trained W-2 employees.

We are certainly able to employ volunteers as tutors. They still will go through our rigorous background check process along with our internal training before being deployed to a school site/district.

Our tutors either have a bachelor’s degree or are in pursuit of one. They all have tutored before and received training. While many tutors have extensive experience in education, many tutors are highly qualified professionals looking to make an impact in their community. Oftentimes, tutors that weren’t looking to pursue a career in education become interested in taking on positions directly with the district they serve or formally pursuing a teaching career.

Tutors hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree or are enrolled in a higher education institution. All tutors complete an internal certification process including content-based assessments and background checks.

An hourly rate is determined based on group size and content area. Districts are invoiced for the number of hours tutors work. Pricing is not determined on a per student basis, allowing tutors to serve more students throughout their shift.

HeyTutor has curriculum for TK-12th grade students.

We do have some certified teachers who may be interested in tutoring and we encourage them to apply; however, Given the nationwide teacher shortage, we do not focus our recruitment efforts on those professionals. Most folks with an active teaching credential are currently engaged in full-time teaching positions. HeyTutor leverages robust training and embedded tutor notes into every lesson to empower all tutors to deliver the same high-quality level of service.

Their primary purpose is to provide a clear and detailed picture of the progress and growth that students are achieving with regard to the specific standards covered within our program.

The HeyTutor assessments serve as a valuable tool for educators and administrators to monitor their students’ learning journey and assess their proficiency in the standards outlined in the program. While the assessments offer insights into students’ progress and areas that may require additional attention, the core lesson path remains consistent. It follows a predefined order, ensuring that all essential standards are addressed in a structured and comprehensive manner.

Tutors are not able to work with more than one district. If you have accepted a position with one district, that is the only district that you will be assigned to.

If the district you are working with is requiring a TB test, either a TB skin test or a TB blood test will be accepted for a TB test.

The TB skin test may also be referred to as a Mantoux test, tuberculin skin test, or a PPD. Any of these forms will be accepted as a TB skin test. The TB blood test may be either a T-SPOT TB test (T-Spot) or a QuantiFERON-TB Gold In-Tube test (QFT-GIT).

If unable to acquire TB skin test or a TB blood test, a Chest X-ray is also acceptable for the TB test.
