About the Funding
Colorado is allocating $24 million to schools enrolling new immigrant students after an unexpected increase of 7,000 arrivals. The bipartisan-supported funding aids schools with paraprofessionals and language services while ensuring resources aren’t diverted from current students. The fund distribution ranges from $15,000 to $750,000, supplemented by per-student allocations.
Key Information:
- School districts and charter schools will receive a fixed rate between $15,000 and $750,000 from the Department of Education.
- Separately, school districts and charter schools will also receive $4,500 per either their total net student population, or the number of new arrival students.
HeyTutor Curriculum Supports EL Students
- HeyTutor’s curriculum is designed to support English Learners (EL) by incorporating various features that address their unique needs and promote language acquisition and academic success.
- Vocabulary that may be unfamiliar to EL students is highlighted in the tutor notes, facilitating discussion and comprehension.
- Lessons are enriched with visual and graphic supports, such as diagrams, to provide additional clarity and aid in understanding complex topics.
