About Marissa

Chemistry is all patterns.

Learning chemistry can be easy if you have a teacher that can show you how to see those patterns. I was taught that a very long time ago. Now I teach it to others. A lot of my students think chemistry is SO HARD and FOREIGN, but it doesn't have to be.

Just like any other subject, you must first learn the basics and then from there build upon them. General chemistry is one of my favorite classes because my students are starting from scratch, and I can show them how to be a great chemistry student.

I have taught chemistry at my undergraduate university, Bradley University, as a tutor and a lab assistant for three years. I graduated magna cum laude with my ACS certified chemistry bachelor's degree in 2012.

I then went on to the university of Illinois here in Chicago as a doctoral student in chemistry. I graduated in late 2017 with my PhD in analytical chemistry as my specialty. I have been a teaching assistant for over 10 semesters and taken multiple graduate level chemistry courses.

In graduate school, a teaching assistant is almost the same as a professor. We teach discussions and labs by ourselves and grade everything by ourselves. I am very qualified to help you with your chemistry needs and very excited to do so.

I look forward to hearing from you!
