About Arianne

Hi! I made two versions of my profile. Both are true and you can respond to either one!

Candid version:
I think learning is magic. It's okay if you don't - learning is also hard, and there's a lot that can get in the way. I want to help you with whatever you're working on, which is easiest if I already know a lot about it, but I believe I can help your learning process no matter what. I've been teaching for a long time in a lot of amazing places, which has taught me how to help folks at very different stages of learning. We can work on homework and your classes, organizational and prep skills, and practice "soft skills" (teamwork etc) too. Especially if you're working with any sort of literature, writing, ecology, anatomy/kinesiology, or history, I'm your tutor.

Fancier, academic version:
I've extensively studied literature, writing, and biological sciences. Right now, I'm working on my graduate degree in writing, so I know what it's like to be a student and all the stuff (academic and otherwise) that goes into it. Things that happen outside the classroom (homework, jobs, activities, other commitments) are all part of your learning experience, and I'm happy to work with you on finding balance and getting organized as well as subject work.

I've been teaching in a lot of different places for the past ten (plus) years; many of those are non-traditional and I bring that extra knowledge with me. I have a lot of experience and training in learning to see where students are at and meet them there, especially one-on-one. I value unconventional approaches and expansive pedagogy, so you'll get those with me. I'm also deeply committed to equity and social justice, and appreciate when we can exchange feedback both ways as we both strive to be better humans :)

Subjects I've taught recently: creative writing, middle/high school English, middle/high school math classes, various levels of ecology and biology, various levels of history
