I’m a PhD Scientist/Educator who loves literature and languages. I’ve worked as a Senior Scientist in the biotech industry, but most of my background has been university-level teaching, mostly organic chemisty. I’ve taught biology, general chemistry, math, geology and astronomy. I have a certificate to teach English as a foreign language with a specialization in online teaching. For the last year and a half I have taught Italian-speaking children English via Zoom.
The reason I teach such a wide variety of subjects has to do with my background: I have a BS in Physics and Mathematics and a PhD in Chemistry (Biological). But I’m not just a science type. I have always been an avid reader, enjoying Shakespeare, Dostoevsky, Hugo as well as religious and philosophical literature. I also love learning languages, and am able to communicate in Italian, French and German at an intermediate level.
I'm an advanced computer user with particular expertise in Excel, Word and PowerPoint both on Windows and Mac. Most people only know a small percentage of what these programs can do. But after using them for over 30 years, I've really learned a lot of tricks. I'm especially familiar with VBA, the programming language used to automate tasks in each of these programs. By sharing the screen online, I can take you step-by-step through the process of solving whatever you're trying to achieve.

Very understanding and patient! Great tutor for me!
I met Tony when my youngest daughter was struggling with organic chemistry. My first daughter, who is currently a junior in college, is also being tutored by Tony. Tony teaches in a unique and enjoyable manner for every student. I am really glad that my kids are doing well in school and enjoy taking chemistry courses. I believe that I was successful in selecting Tony Mega after seeing the growth and progress that my daughters are making in this difficult class.
