About Nicole

I am a person that enjoys teaching and helping others. Also, I thoroughly enjoy and have experience with expression through writing and the arts.

I was born in Washington DC and raised in Maryland. I moved to the Seattle area in 2015. Throughout my school career, I was an honors student graduating in the top 10% of my high school class as well as being inducted into the National Honors Society. I received various scholarships to attend college and continued my academic excellence by maintaining a 3.8 GPA and above. My college coursework was Education, Social Work, and Psychology focused. Even though I was able to maintain a top GPA throughout my school career, English, verbal, and written expression comes the easiest to me. I am naturally equipped with strong verbal and written ability. This was evidenced by my ease and enjoyment of that type of subject matter throughout school as well as my testing scores. My standardized test scores for verbal and written work has been in the 90th percentile in addition to my score on the verbal portion of the SAT.

My love for writing began as a 6th grade student. Before that, I was passionate and actively involved in verbal expression through school plays for which I was chosen. However, I was not passionate about writing. On a day to day basis, I was more of a quiet kid. I could act well but I hadn't really explored what it was to have my own voice and to write for myself. Also, I was intimidated by writing and hadn't had a good teaching experience from previous English teachers. In 6th grade, I was taught about poetry including different poetry styles. It was then that I started to feel comfortable exploring my own voice and stretching my writing wings. I enjoyed it so much that even when I didn't have to write for homework, I would write on my own. I wrote about all sorts of things, thoughts, and feelings. I felt a sense of strength, empowerment, and accomplishment. This love for poetry spilled over to me doing more essay writing then strengthening my essay writing to even enjoying and not feeling intimidated by essay writing. Because of my own backstory with writing, I am very passionate about helping others to explore and discover writing and any form of expression for that matter. I think that writing and forms of expression can be intimidating as first. However with my approach, I believe that all students can discover their own voice and love verbal or written expression at the very most or at the very least be competent and not intimidated by it.

I am a people person and have always been engaged in work that is directly helping others. I recently left my job as a Corporate Recruiting Manager so that I can dedicate more of my time to teaching others. Though, I have left my corporate recruiting career I am grateful for the people I have met along the way. Also, working as a Corporate Recruiter taught me to refine my verbal and written communication skills, because of the large number of people I communicated with daily. I still do career and resume consulting because I am very engaged in teaching and helping others to finding their own voice and applying that to a meaningful career. In addition to my work with adults, I have worked as a camp counselor, tutor, and youth volunteer for elementary to high school aged children.

I have various types of acting experiencing including film and plays. After college, I was an actress in short films including "Raymond and Lina" and "Saul's Groove". In high school, I starred as the lead (the mother Lillian Gilbreth) in a major play Cheaper by the Dozen. I also had major and supporting roles in plays and public performances throughout elementary, middle, and high school.

My public speaking and presentation experience includes being a speaker for graduations, women's days, youth days, and other special events. Also as an adult, I was a cast member for a panel discussion show called Conversations that aired on Public Access television in Prince George's County Maryland.

I am the author of a book called Purpose which I plan on relaunching in the near future. I am also the author of several pieces of published poetry one of which was recently published in Theories of Her an anthology available now on Amazon.
