About Sue

I taught Elementary School for 17 years and enjoyed every minute of the time spent with students. We worked hard and laughed almost every day. I am interested in finding out what makes my students 'click'. Do they learn visually, orally, kinesthetically, or aurally? Do they enjoy baseball, music, or art? What tips and tricks can we discover that help them the most?
I will gladly help with vocabulary, decoding words, spelling, and learning how to not only enjoy reading, but how to gain as much information as possible from each text. I have tutored Science and Math on the elementary level and can offer test taking strategies to help children to be less intimidated by the large amounts of text they encounter. I will do my best to work within the parameters of an IEP or 504 accommodations list and am happy to work with a student to discover the best strategies to ensure learning and retention.
I have lists of books I recommend for free reading according to level and interest and continually search for new titles. Finally, I look forward to working with you, the student or your child in this next step of the educational journey.
I have a lifetime certificate to teach grades 1-8 in Self Contained Classroom, English Literature, and English for Speakers of Other Languages. I will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
