I am a Cornell University graduate, mother of two grown children and former professional dancer. My greatest love is learning, and I am endlessly curious. I currently tutor a university student in Spanish for the third year in a row, and have a long term tutoring relationship with a fourth grader.
Having taught in the classroom (ages 2-7) and tutored my own children (as well as friends and siblings) for much of my adult life, my skills cover a wide age range. Sensitivity to individual personalities and learning styles is my strength. Some children need coaxing, some need frequent breaks that include movement (dance comes in handy) and others thrive with the addition of games and rewards. The same variations exist with adult learners: some adults like to chat or stretch before getting down to work, others dive in and don't stop until their time is up. My aim is to engage with each student. My goal is to instill a love of learning and the sense of mastery necessary to becoming a life long learner.
