About Clara

Hola! My name is Clara Dunlop, and I am a recent graduate from Stony Brook University with a BA in Spanish and Linguistics. I started learning Spanish in sixth grade, with a wonderful teacher who not only encouraged us to learn the language, but to use it to explore a new culture and talk about our lives and hobbies. This teacher made me fall in love with the language and inspired me to continue studying Spanish at a university level, and now I want to help students like you acquire the same love for this beautiful language and access the benefits of being bilingual. Having double majored in Linguistics and Spanish, and scored a 5 on the AP Spanish Exam, I have a strong knowledge of both the Spanish language and the principles of second-language acquisition. In my lessons, I integrate conversational practice and grammar study to help students increase their confidence and proficiency speaking about a wide range of topics. I encourage students to speak and write creatively about their hobbies, interests, and life experiences so they develop a strong personal connection with Spanish and view it as an exciting opportunity to learn to express themselves in another language and get to know another culture.
