I've been a teacher at City-As-School High School in Manahattan's West Village for 12 years. I was born in Taiwan and immigrated with my family to the US when I was five. I grew up in a Mandarin and Taiwanese speaking household in central Jersey. I got my B.A. at Wesleyan University in American Studies. I taught English to adults and young kids for two years in Taiwan. I then returned to New York where I earned my M.Ed. at NYU for Social Studies Education, Grades 5-12. At City-As, I've taught a Mandarin foreign language course for 10 years, as well as a range of theme-based world and U.S. history classes. I've also taught documentary and narrative film making classes, and have collaborated with other teachers to run an internship program for our students in the last three years.
I left the NYCDOE in June to persue other interests, but would like to continue to work with students one on one. I am open to working with all ages, especially as a Mandarin tutor.
